Who said that you can’t find towns with real Cowboys? We have found towns where you'll surely find guys like Sam Elliott in the Big Lebowski, only instead of living in a big city they are right at home.
The spirit of Wild West is alive and well at the following Cowboy towns.
1. Deadwood, South Dakota
First featured in our top 5 list is Deadwood of South Dakota. Names synonymous with the Old West like Wyatt Earp, “Wild Bill” Hickok and Calamity, have ties to Deadwood.
There's much more to Deadwood's history than Hollywood portrays.
2. Dodge City, Kansas
Dodge City’s history is well-documented and displayed for visitors in the Boot Hill Museum and Front Street. Visitors can find more about the city by visiting the Santa Fe Trail, Fort Dodge and the Gunfighters Wax Museum.
3. Elko, Nevada
Nevada has plenty more to offer to travelers other than gambling and Elko is a worth visiting town.
Visitors will connect with the cowboy way of life by visiting several museums in the city.

The biggest and greatest Cowboy town is Oklahoma City. The population of this town is over half a million! Certain events take place in Oklahoma City such as the annual Chuck Wagon Gathering & Children’s Cowboy Festival, Western Heritage Awards and plenty of rodeos.

The Green Dragon Pub is situated in New Zealand and it is close to the actual Hobbiton near Matamata, which is the actual place where the movies were filmed. The pub was designed by Brian Massey who led an army of 80 workers who built and decorated the pub and the nearby area.
