The Groundhog of course! Punxsutawney Phil (the groundhog) has been making predictions for over 120 years! How is that possible? By drinking the "elixir of life", a secret recipe that gives Phil 7 more years of life everytime he drinks it! So each year on February the second, Phil comes out of his burrow on Gobbler's Knob in front of thousands of followers from all over the world to predict the weather for the rest of winter. After he emerges from his burrow, he speaks to the Groundhog Club president (by the way there is a Groundhog Club) in "Groundhogese" (a language only understood by the current president of the Inner Circle). His proclamation is then translated for the world. The town also puts on a huge range of activities and celebrations in the days before and after Groundhog Day itself. These include guided tours, meals, craft fairs and more besides.
