Extensive snowfall is affecting a large number of UK airport services. However, different parts of the UK are experiencing the wintry weather in various degrees – with large amounts of snow in areas like northern England and the south east, and lower levels in more western areas.
Therefore, the overall UK airport snow situation remains changeable, with some sites having shut down completely, some offering limited services and some operating as per normal.

Gatwick Airport Snow
Gatwick Airport’s snowfall has had an adverse affect on airline operations there. It should have reopened today, but after fresh snowfall over the 1st and 2nd December, it will now stay shut until 6.00am on 3rd December at the very best.
“We are doing everything we can to resume operations”, a representative for the airport stated. “However, conditions have deteriorated considerably. Our teams are working around the clock to make the runway safe for aircraft to use and get our airlines and passengers flying again.”
Elsewhere, Edinburgh Airport was scheduled to have opened up again as these words were typed, and both Doncaster’s Robin Hood Airport and London City Airport are preparing to open at midday. "We advise passengers to contact their airline or visit www.londoncityairport.com for further information”, an LCY spokesman stressed.

The same is true of London Stansted, Birmingham Airport, Glasgow Airport and Manchester Airport, where flights are running as per normal bar a handful of domestic routes affected by snow conditions at other airports. Again, for Manchester Airport - and the others - passengers set to travel in coming hours are being advised to check the latest online Flight Information updates.
