Located on a dramatic hill-top adjacent to the sea, the Jumeirah Port Soller Hotel & Spa includes nine separate buildings comprising of 120 beautifully-adorned guest rooms, two distinctive restaurants, a Talise spa, three swimming pools, three meeting rooms and a naturally lit ballroom. Opening Spring 2012.

An outstanding opportunity exists for an experienced Director of Engineering within the Engineering Department of Jumeirah in Port Soller.

About the role:

The Director of Engineering will be required to be responsible for co-ordinating and overseeing the daily operations of the Engineering Department. To ensure that the property and assets are maintained in the highest order through the implementation of the "Jumeirah Engineering Management System" and the appointment of suitable competent personnel. To develop strategies for the future growth of the engineering department and the resort. The main duties of the role will include but not be limited to the following:
Prepare comprehensive budgets and forecasts to ensure the efficient and cost effective operation of the department.
Ensure property is maintained in accordance with the JEMS (Jumeirah Engineering Management System). This includes the Fire, Life and Safety Matrix, PPM and work order system.
Ensure an effective communication process is in place for engineering department so issues are resolved and ideas shared
Ensure all Capital projects are conducted in line with company policy.
Ensure engineering department complies with all health and safety requirement and be a member of the SBU's occupational health and safety committee.
Implement effective energy management strategy to ensure property utilises energy as efficiently as possible and reduces wastage.

Desired Skills & Experience
About you:

  • To be considered for this exciting opportunity, you will possess:
  • Minimum 8 years general engineering experience.
  • Minimum 5 years in Engineering Management.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in Building Management Systems (BMS).
  • Pre-Opening Experience is preferable.
  • High level of written & verbal business English and Spanish.
  • A valid work permit is required for this position or EU nationals as per local regulations.

Essential:
  • Demonstrates highly developed leadership skill set
  • Capable of developing, articulating and implementing business strategies and initiatives
  • Possesses strong problem-solving, reasoning, and analytical abilities
  • Highly capable in basic mathematics and budgeting
  • Confident with the use of computers
